A logistics company specializing in cross-Andes transport has shared its battery upgrade experience. The company’s fleet operates between Chile and Argentina, crossing Andean passes at altitudes exceeding 4,000 meters. The thin air at high altitudes makes engine starting difficult, placing extreme demands on battery performance.
In 2025, the company replaced batteries in all cross-border vehicles with JSTARY 48V lithium batteries. Following the upgrade, vehicle start success rates at high altitudes increased from 80% with lead-acid to over 99%. The lightweight battery design also added dozens of kilograms of payload per vehicle, generating over $50,000 in additional annual transport revenue.
“The Andes are our toughest operating environment,” said the company’s Technical Director. “JSTARY batteries have impressed us with their high-altitude performance – strong starts, stable operation. Our drivers now confidently cross any mountain pass.”
