North American Municipal Sanitation Fleet Adopts JSTARY Lithium Batteries, Cuts Maintenance Costs by 40%

A Canadian city’s environmental services department has announced the results of its sanitation fleet battery upgrade project. The department operates 50 garbage trucks and street sweepers, with vehicles running long hours daily, experiencing frequent start-stop cycles, and requiring power for hydraulic systems.

In 2025, the department replaced all vehicle batteries with JSTARY 48V lithium batteries. Following the upgrade, downtime due to battery issues dropped by 85%, and annual maintenance costs fell by 40%. The batteries’ maintenance-free nature freed maintenance staff from tedious battery care to focus on other critical tasks.

“Municipal budgets are tight – every dollar must be spent wisely,” said the Environmental Services Director. “JSTARY batteries not only saved us money but also improved fleet availability. Citizen complaints about garbage collection have noticeably decreased.”
